Welcome!Welcome to the Website of the TIAM Project (Tanzania-Ireland Alternative Medicine Project). Our mission is to support training in Homeopathy and African Traditional Medicine in Tanzania. We also intend to establish homeopathic clinics throughout the country and beyond, thereby bringing cost- effective, sustainable healthcare accessible to all. At present, 70% of the Tanzanian Population relies on African Traditional Medicine for the treatment of a wide variety of ailments but no official training is available on the whole African continent. Homeopathy is a complete system of medicine that has proven very effective in the treatment of many types of illnesses. It has recently been recommended in a report issued by the World Health Organization as being a successful form of treatment , particularly suited to developing countries. Homeopathic treatment has proven particularly effective and cost efficient in the treatment of malaria, helping to resolve acute episodes of the disease but also making the patients less susceptible to subsequent attacks of malaria. Sigsbert Rwegasira, a pioneering Tanzanian Homeopath and Traditional Herbalist has been treating thousands of patients presenting with a multitude of conditions for the past 17 years with great success. He provides treatment for no less than a 100 malaria patients a day in his busy clinic. He has also obtained remarkable results in the treatment of the opportunistic diseases that arise in people affected by AIDS and HIV+ . Thanks to his outstanding results, he has obtained the full support and encouragement of the Tanzanian government who have identified the need for more practitioners to be trained. The TIAM Project is raising funds to build and run a school of homeopathy and African Traditional Medicine, the first of its kind in Africa, to address that need. If you would like to support this project, all donations, however small are welcome and if have a good sense of adventure, join us on our magical cycling tour, the Zanzibar Cycling Challenge.
